MAKENA ZONING CHANGE

We, the undersigned, believe that the open space in the Makena area should be preserved. We do not support the proposed Makena Resort development of (phase #1) 1100 luxury units. Kihei's traffic, beach crowding and water issues will be worsened by creating a second city of luxury sprawl in South Maui. Maui's aquifers are already over-pumped and we do not have water to support this project. The "affordable" housing is not affordable to most Maui working people. We support a planning strategy that puts Maui residents' needs first, before those of offshore investors.
